I stumbled across local brand Common Thread almost by accident last week & I knew within seconds that this was too good to keep to myself.
The label was started by two friends Ferial & Feroza just a few weeks ago, though both had walked their own path in fashion before coming together. As I flipped through some pics online of their designs, I found myself liking quite a number of them & excitedly contacted them to find out more.
As luck had it, I was in Cape Town this weekend & decided to go see the store for myself. They have a really cool space at Salt River Circle (right across from the Old Biscuit Mill) in the up & coming neighbourhood of Woodstock, Cape Town.
Have a look at some of my favourite styles, I promise Common Thread has something you’ll love!
This shift dress is so pretty, especially the colours and fabric.
Peplum doesn’t work for my booty but I still like it, especially in this fabric, gives it a vintage look.
So classic & its the perfect length for my business wardrobe! The colour made this interesting vs. the expected boring black. Also, love the necklace.
They also have some really on-point accessories.
I’m a sucker for all things leather.
My purchase of the day, though I was already trying to figure out what to try on next. 🙂 I loved this colour on my skin. I don’t think you can see it well in this pic but I paired this dress with a skinny brown belt. A tan belt could work too… I thought this was well priced at R 350.
They get new styles in every week & everything is locally made, so keep checking back. I will be counting down till my next trip to Cape Town!

If you live in Cape Town, count yourself lucky! If you don’t, make a plan to get there! To see more of their designs, like their Facebook page.

LOVE THEM!! I’m pregnant and I shop there… shirts are so roomy and skirts are long or short enough to wear under and over my continuously growing bump!
Great store !! Love the items 🙂
