I was thoroughly excited to attend a PampHair Party at Palladium Hair Co. recently. I know right, PampHair what is that? I wasn’t sure what to expect but the invite sounded rather glamorous so off to I went!
If you don’t know them, Palladium is premium hair salon out in the trendy Cape Quarter in Green Point, Cape Town. To call them a hair salon is a bit of an injustice as they’re actually so much more. I’d passed by there before but was always a tad intimidated as it looks super chic and they’re well known for having celebrity clients (or ambassadors as they call them) such as Jeanni D, Cameron van der Burgh, Natalie Becker and Kia Johnson, the latter two of whom were our hosts for the night.
Palladium is a huge salon keeping the widest range of products I’ve ever seen. But it’s not just hair, you can also get your nails and eyebrows done while you’re here & they have a dedicated male clientele whom they cater very well.
So back to PampHair…. They literally rolled out the red carpet to welcome us to event and we were greeted with “welcome to heaven” at the door. They fed us so well thanks to Jenny Morris that I really needed a third hand on the night to take pics as my one hand was permanently strapped to a canapé of sorts and the other to a (m)cocktail.
There really was something for everyone. I especially loved chatting to the ladies from Mimi’s Real Brazilian hair.
The Errol Arendz store
Outside the salon, in the run up to the red carpet various outlets from Cape Quarter had merchandise on display, so I got in some good window shopping, especially at the nearby Errol Arendz store nearby that stayed open especially for the event. The team at Palladium were so organised that we all got laminated A5 sheets with all the sponsor’s twitter handles on arrival – too cool!
Tweet, tweet! Some of the lovely ladies I met from my group.
After some mingling, the night soon kicked off and I really like that they structured the evening and didn’t just expect us to mingle all night (I’m no social butterfly!). We moved off into groups and rotated between four very informative sessions.
How cute are Margaux’s stockings!? A rubybox sample.
The first session was by rubybox co-founder Margaux – what a treat to meet the brains behind this clever idea that’s taken SA by storm. I really loved this session as we got to ask her all and any of our beauty questions. Imagine having a (ex Glamour magazine) beauty editor at your finger tips. I got to ask all my burning beauty questions and she breezed through them all. She also gave us a bit of a teaser about their upcoming anticipated Kiehl’s box for October though she wouldn’t say more than it would contain a whopping 6 products.
Ilze getting her hair did by the Tigi team.
We moved onto a session hosted by Tigi, a colourfully packaged brand I’d seen around but didn’t know much about. For the first time I got to understand what their brand is about and we got tailored samples (I can’t wait to try on my curls). The product they focused on in the session is called After Party, a soothing cream to be applied that morning after that night out to get your hair back into shape when you don’t have the time to wash it. Everything Tigi does smells insanely good, you’ll want to eat it!
Then it was GHD time. This brand needs no introduction and the GHD technician, Jennifer really, really knew her stuff. One of the things I had never managed to do when I wore my hair relaxed and yearned for so desperately to GHD curls (I always went to the salon to get them done). We not only got some super tips but a demo as well on how to do different kinds of curls – who knew there were different kinds of curls! For a second I wished I still had my long hair just to try these tricks at home!
The last session was by Duncan Pape’ & Kirsty Da Costa from Style 360 who, as a team, took us through the summer 2012 fashion and make up trends. What’s interesting about this duo team is that they offer a holistic service for e.g. they can dress you for an event or they’d come to your home and help revamp your closet. They also really stressed the importance of tailoring (they offer the services of an expert seamstress), which I’ve long been a believer of.
Omg – look at those heels. And she was standing most of the night. RESPECT!
Heaps (and I means heaps!) of such decadent prizes (GHD’s, Skin Renewal vouchers and Uwe Koetter jewellery to name a few) were given away on the night – I didn’t get lucky but there’s already word of the next PampHair Party, fingers crossed! I had a ton of fun and while I arrived sceptical and alone, I left many laughs later and having met some cool people and really learned a thing or two.
Packed goodie bags with vouchers too!
Thanks to the folks and Palladium and their sponsors for a super cool evening, I’ll certainly be back!
Ps Margaux – I fell into bed this night exhausted from the evening’s events but your words rang in my ears as I peeled myself out of bed to wash off my makeup – thought you’d be proud!
PPS for everyone in Gauteng, Palladium Hair Co. has a branch in Waterkloof PTA, I had no idea either!
